Helping Families Better Understand How Children Learn, Grow, and Thrive

M.Ed., LPES, NCSP
I have 20+ years of experience providing psychoeducational assessments in public school settings and serving preschool-aged children through adolescents who are homeschooled or attend preschools, co-ops, private schools and public schools. After 20 years of continuous public school employment in Anderson, SC, the recognized need for individualized psychoeducational assessment and connection with resources and supports in our local community has drawn me into private practice.
Education & Professional Journey
After graduating from Clemson University with a B.S. in Psychology and minor in Business, I completed my school psychology training in the specialist level M.Ed. program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I completed practicum experiences in Moore County and Guilford County, NC followed by a year-long internship in Anderson School District Five and 19 additional years of service. During this time, I specialized in preschool assessment, autism spectrum disorders, and behavioral consultation and received specific training in Orton-Gillingham methods of teaching reading and extensive study in anxiety in young children, becoming a trainer of the FLIP IT method. I have experience working with toddlers through adolescents living with a variety of complex medical and learning needs and maintain memberships with the South Carolina Association of School Psychologists and National Association of School Psychologists.

My Approach to Assessment
I enjoy the assessment process of discovery and interpersonal understanding of clients, family, and individual children’s needs along with the more systematic components of gathering and analyzing subjective and quantitative data. My goal is to help each family and child navigate the path forward in their educational journey by providing an overall understanding of the student’s strengths and weaknesses and explain the reasons why a child may be struggling while providing effective recommendations. Choosing to seek a psychoeducational evaluation is a big step for a student/family, and the collaboration between a provider and client and their family can be very fruitful.
Areas of Professional Focus
Throughout my career, I have developed extensive experience providing assessments and educational consultation in several areas, including:
I also have extensive experience supporting children with developmental concerns, learning differences, executive functioning challenges, and educational planning needs.
Serving Families Throughout Upstate South Carolina
For more than two decades, I have worked with children, adolescents, families, educators, and schools throughout Upstate South Carolina. Today, ANCKRD proudly provides individualized assessment services for families across:
Whether families are seeking answers regarding learning disabilities, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, or developmental concerns, my goal is to provide thoughtful evaluations that help guide educational planning and future success.
Beyond the Office
Recent life experiences and being mother to four young men and four fur children have helped to refine my focus and my skills with a focus on providing practical and realistic options and recommendations following assessment within a framework of individual circumstances. When not in the office, I can be found on the sidelines of a soccer pitch or baseball diamond, enjoying nature, or reading.
